At Mapplewell Primary School we are fortunate to have a hot dinners service provided by BMBC.

Mapplewell Autumn Menu 2023

The lunches are prepared in school in our school kitchen on a daily basis. Pupils are provided with a choice of lunch each morning; the options being a traditional dinner, a jacket potato or a vegetarian dinner. Pupils can choose to have a school dinner on a daily basis. Please pay for your child’s dinner via the Arbor App.

Menus are determined a term ahead and made visible to pupils each morning. Please see the document below for up to date Menus for this term (use the tool icons at the top of the document to enlarge it for easier viewing). Meals to celebrate special events are also offered and parents/carers will be notified of these events when they occur throughout the school year.

Pupils may bring a packed lunch to school which should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. We are unable to provide refrigerators so we recommend the use of insulated lunch boxes and ice packs, especially in the hot weather. Lunch boxes are stored in the class cloakrooms. Please try to ensure that the lunch your child brings to school is healthy and consists of a balanced diet, with no sweets or fizzy drinks.

If your child has a packed lunch we do not dispose of their rubbish, therefore allowing you to see what they have eaten.

Some pupils in Key Stage 2 are also eligible for free school meals. Please click here for further information and to download an application form. We ensure this information is discretely applied at school.

Food and drink at other times

Pupils are encouraged to drink throughout the day and may bring a water bottle to school, however to maintain a healthy diet the schools policy is water only and no soft drinks will be allowed. Healthy snacks are encouraged and fruit is available for pupils at break time; fruit is provided by the government for Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils however if your child is in Key Stage 2 a payment is required. Please see the office staff for further information about this.
