Message from the Chair of the Governing Body
Thank you for visiting our school website. Whether you are visiting our school for the first time or are currently part of the school community we wish you a warm welcome.
As a Governing Body our main aim is to work in partnership with the school, parents/carers, the local community and professional advisors to drive forward development in order to ensure that Mapplewell Primary is a continuously improving school for the benefit of pupils in its care.
The Governing Body are a dedicated group of volunteers who work hard to support, challenge and encourage good teaching and learning for all pupils. We provide a safe, positive and respectful environment where we encourage our pupils to be confident and kind and where we allow them to develop personal resilience.
The 3 core strategic functions of the Governing Body are:
- Ensure the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school
- Hold the Headteacher and senior leadership team to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure allocated budgets are well spent
The Governing Body are proud of the staff and volunteers who, under the positive leadership of our new Headteacher, work extremely hard to provide a positive, nurturing and interesting place of learning for our pupils.
Thanks must also be given to all our parents/carers for the continued support they give to school and the learning of our pupils. Strong partnerships between home and school are vital in supporting the education of our pupils and we will work hard to maintain these relationships.
The schools greatest asset, however, is its pupils who welcome all visitors with a smile and with a respectful and friendly manner. Each and every pupil is a fantastic ambassador for the school and they ensure that the school is a warm and welcoming place.
I am very privileged to be part of Mapplewell Primary School and hope that by working closely with staff, pupils and parents/carers that we can provide a good education, promote a positive set of life skills and help all our pupils reach their potential.
